Dawson City is situated within Tr’ondek Hwëch’in Traditional Territory, at the confluence of the Chu kon’ dëk (Yukon) and Tr’ondëk (Klondike) Rivers.

Dawson is a thriving community that was built by mining, sustained by culture and tourism and tended by government. The campus supports these sectors by providing various courses and programs in a number of areas. A variety of short- and long-term training programs are offered with a priority to meet local employment needs.

Study On Campus
Students who are enrolled in Yukon U's online programs and courses are welcome to attend and study on campus. Participate in your online courses from the campus and / or drop in to enjoy some quiet study time in a tranquil environment. We also deliver a variety of face-to-face continuing education courses and localized programs in our well furnished classrooms. Our spaces are comfortable, equipped and supported by staff to enhance your Yukon U learning experience.

Hëtrʼohoʼày̨ (we are learning)
Learning Hub & Classroom
When we are not running courses and activities, we are happy to host students and community members in our Hëtrʼohoʼày̨ (we are learning) Learning Hub & Classroom, situated downstairs near the reception desk. This area offers computer and Internet access combined with study space for doing your coursework, research, communications, etc.

The public computers are accessible during office hours. However, technical assistance and printing is only available when our Administrative Assistant is working at the reception desk.

We have a selection of Trʼëdädèy (we are working) office and classroom spaces that can be adapted into small meeting rooms. Room availability, reservations and fee information is provided at our reception desk.

Energy Literacy| On-line | FREE

Northern Energy Innovation has developed an Energy Literacy course through the Canadian Colleges for a Resilient Recovery Program (C2R2).

This is a free, online, self-guided, interactive course which will take approximately 15 hours to complete. The course will be available to students for 90 days at a time.

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of energy literacy. Exploring how the electric energy grid functions and the challenges and opportunities being experienced during our current energy transition.

The course will explore energy literacy through a technical, social, and political lens. The energy transition will be explored from a northern lens using case studies that focus on equipment and technologies relevant to remote northern communities and remote-integrated grids, exploring the challenges and benefits associated with integrating renewables into these systems. 

This course will provide students with a fundamental understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with the energy transition. The course is taught through a northern lens but is relevant to anyone interested in learning about or expanding their understanding of energy literacy.


Available Face-To-Face at the Dawson Campus:


Standard First Aid / CPR-C | Tues, Wed, May 7 & 8| 9:00am - 5:00pm|$270 (no gst) 

Comprehensive 14 hour course offers first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home. Includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines. Meets federal and a variety of provincial/territorial regulations for Standard First Aid and CPR. Exceeds competitors' standards by including injury prevention content, CPR and AED.


Foodsafe Safe Level 1 | Tues & Wed, May 14 & 15 | 5:30pm - 8:00pm | $150 + gst

FOODSAFE Level 1 is a food handling, sanitation and work safety course designed for front line food service workers such as cooks, servers, bussers, dishwashers, and deli workers. The course covers important food safety and worker safety information including foodborne illness, receiving and storing food, preparing food, serving food, cleaning and sanitizing.


Leadership for Safety Excellence | Mon & Tues, May 6 & 7 | 9:00am - 5:00pm | $499 + gst

This course is full.

This is a two-day in person course is designed for people in management and supervisory positions in Territorially regulated workplaces in the Yukon. This program enables supervisors to build health and safety into their every-day planning, create and promote a safe work environment where people can work safely, and help make a lasting contribution to the reduction of incidents in all industries. Topics include: supervisor's role, inspections, young and new workers, investigations, and training. This program is appropriate for leaders in the public, private, and NGO sectors, and covers diverse workplaces through scenarios and illustrations.


TDG & WHMIS | Thurs, May 17 | 9:00am - 12:00pm & 1:00pm - 4:00pm | $125 + gst per course

Ensure you know how to properly read and understand labels, identifiers, and material safety and data sheets as you explore the responsibilities of suppliers, importers, distributors, employees and employers. Protect yourself and the public by learning how to avoid dangerous accidents and understanding your responsibilities as a shipper/handler. Earn certificates in the process.

Yùhke Zho | Yukon School of Visual Arts

Yukon University is a proud partner in the Yukon School of Visual Arts (SOVA), situated adjacent to the Dawson Campus in the Yùhke Zho building. The Foundation Year program at SOVA is a university level program, equivalent to the first year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (BFA). SOVA is a collaboration between Yukon University, the Klondike Institute of Arts & Culture (KIAC) and Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in.

Learning Through Lived Experience

Yukon University is a proud partner of YSPOR, with a satellite office situated in the community of Dawson, upstairs at Tr’odëk Hätr’unohtän Zho Dawson Campus. YSPOR supports health research through training, capacity development, knowledge sharing and translation, so that patients, families and communities are empowered to shape health care and research. YSPOR is based at Yukon University's Ayamdigut Campus and is funded by the Canadian Institute of Health Research.
