Manu Keggenhoff photography exhibit opens Oct. 3 in the Hilltop Bistro

WHITEHORSE - Northern Impressions, an exhibit of 11 photographs by Atlin-based artist Manu Keggenhoff opens on Thursday October 3 at the Hilltop Bistro at Yukon College. The opening is from 4.30 p.m. until 6.30 p.m. with Keggenhoff in attendance.

The exhibit is a collection of Keggenhoff’s favourite black and white photography and includes a mix of long exposures and wildlife images.
“I spend a lot of time taking very colourful, vibrant and busy images. The stark, simple black and white images in this exhibit are what I need at other times to rest my eyes and my mind, to focus on a single point in a spare landscape,” said Keggenhoff.

The 11 images feature scenes from the Atlin and Whitehorse area and are for sale for the duration of the exhibit, which runs until December. Her most recent book “Northern Exposure”, pays homage to her hometown Atlin, was published November 2012. In 2011/12, Keggenhoff’s work “Water: Change of Moods” became part of the Yukon Permanent Art Collection.

Keggenhoff has held a passion for photography almost all her life, and her photographical work has been published in several photo-art calendars and the magazines UpHere, British Columbia Magazine, and Dogs in Canada. Her work has also featured in several books published in Germany, the Netherlands, the U.S., and Canada.

Keggenhoff moved to Canada from Germany in 2002 and has lived in Atlin, BC, for 11 years. She has worked as a professional graphic-designer and art-director since 1998, and is currently the designer for Harper Street Publishing which includes the magazines, Yukon, North of Ordinary, ArtsNet Yukon, and Road Trip. Keggenhoff has a master’s degree in visual arts and design from Marquardt-Academy in Dortmund, Germany. She has also lectured in visual communication and graphic-design there.
