Future Routes Festival announces line-up & free buses - Sept 6+7

The Future Routes Festival is excited to unveil a jam-packed line-up of local and national artists the weekend of September 6th and 7th.  The Festival, held in honor of the 15th anniversary of BYTE and the 50th anniversary of the Yukon College, will be taking place as part of orientation week at the college and will feature two nights of live musical performances.

Friday night’s headliner, Cadence Weapon, returns to Yukon again following packed shows at the Dawson City Music Festival. The Canadian rapper continues to firmly establish his legacy as a sonic pioneer while constantly pushing the rap and electronic music envelope.

Yukoners will be treated to the roots-rock musical stylings of B.C.’s Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra Saturday night. Drawing on flamenco flourishes learned in Spain, on African percussion, on bluegrass and other roots music from across the Americas, these five young gentlemen will seriously rock your socks off.

Future Routes is proud to present some of Yukon’s finest musical talent to play the festival, including:  Nicole Edwards and the Joy Seekers (Jazz), Death in Venice (Rock), Vision Quest (Hip-Hop), Abstract Original (Hip-Hop), Zipline (Rock) MC Turmoil, Calvin (Hip-Hop), Solid Fuel (Rock).

The festival is themed around creating a sustainable future in the Yukon through community based projects and education. Future Routes is proud to be partnering with the City of Whitehorse to provide free bus transport from downtown to the college all weekend. The weekend will also include a Friday green market place and sustainability talks. More details to come soon!

Future Routes Festival is a partnership between Bringing Youth Towards Equality (BYTE), Yukon College Student Union (YCSU), and Yukon College.
