Yukon College Invites the Public to Imagine the Future
Whitehorse –The chair of Yukon College’s Board of Governors is inviting the public to get involved in imagining the future of the College.
“Yukon is evolving,” says Paul Flaherty. “We have a growing population and an expanding economy. Yukon College must also evolve to ensure we are providing students with the right tools to meet the challenges and opportunities in the future.”
Kristina Craig, a Whitehorse-based facilitator, will hold a series of public meetings across the territory on behalf of the Board of Governors throughout April and May.
The Board will use this feedback to assist in creating a fresh strategic plan for 2013-2018. Flaherty says the last strategic plan was important for accomplishing the College’s goals.
"It’s incredibly rewarding to look back at what we have achieved these past four years," he says. "Yukon Research Centre, the School of Mining, new programs, new campuses in Pelly Crossing and Dawson City - all came from feedback we heard last time around.”
“So we are excited to do this again and hear from all Yukoners- private citizens, business and governments- on their vision for Yukon College.”

The meetings kick off in Pelly Crossing on Tuesday, April 10 at The Old Community Hall during a community lunch at 12 p.m.
They continue Wednesday, April 11 at 7 p.m. at the Mayo Community Campus. Further meetings are scheduled for Ross River and Faro at the end of the month and Watson Lake, Dawson City and Old Crow in May. More will be announced soon.
