Convocation Day is the largest celebration of Yukon College’s academic year!
The 2017 Convocation ceremonies will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Yukon Arts Centre.
WHICH CEREMONY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?
Ceremony 1 is for all students who attend any program in the Applied Arts Division. See the "Programs by Division" section of schedule of events.
Ceremony 2 is for all students who attend any program in the following division, school or centres: Applied Science and Management Division, School of Academic and Skill Development, Centre for Northern Innovation in Mining, Yukon Native Language Centre. See the "Programs by Division" section of schedule of events.
Gowning: your gown, cap and stole will be available at the Student Services Centre on the day of the ceremony. Gowning will start at 10am for the 11am ceremony, and at 1pm for the 2pm ceremony. Please arrive on time.
Dress code: we request that all graduates dress to reflect the dignity of Convocation. We encourage students to wear footwear appropriate for standing and walking safely. Very high heels can be hazardous on the stairs of the stage.
Coat check not available: as there will be no secure storage space available, it is recommended that you leave personal items with your family/guest.
Guests are welcome to attend the 2017 Convocation ceremonies at the Yukon Arts Centre and the complementary reception with light refreshments in the Yukon College gymnasium from noon to 2pm. Seating at the Yukon Arts Centre is available on a first come, first serve basis. Doors open 30 minutes prior to each ceremony.
Members of the audience are welcome to take pictures during the ceremonies. You are also welcome to use a photo booth at the Yukon Arts Centre.
Most graduates will receive their official credential the day of Convocation. If you are unable to attend, your credential can be picked up at the Admissions Office between May 26 and June 16, 2017. (If you cannot pick up your credential in person, a family member/friend may pick it up for you with a note written and signed by you.) After June 16, credentials will be mailed to graduates at the address listed on their Application to Graduate.
MOBILITY AND DIVERSITY ACCOMODATIONS
Both Yukon College and the Yukon Arts Centre provide services and accommodations to ensure Convocation is as accessible as possible for all guests and graduates. Yukon College is fully wheelchair accessible, however, the Yukon Arts Centre will require staff assistance for graduates. If you require any mobility or diversity accommodations, please contact Julie Hawkins at least two weeks prior to the ceremony: firstname.lastname@example.org or 456.8606.
