SAFE 001 - Industrial Safety

This course is designed to introduce students to the general principles and concepts of working safely in an industrial setting. The course includes both classroom instruction and practical exercises, and students will be expected to take part in all of these exercises. Included in this course is instruction in the following areas: safety around moving machinery; fire prevention and the correct use of fire extinguishers; Workers Compensation, Health and Safety Board regulations as they apply to this industry; correct use of personal protective equipment, and the regulations pertaining to their use; correct lockout procedures when working on machinery; other general safety practices and regulations as they pertain to industry; fall protection devices and equipment; dangers of toxics, chemicals, etc.
