Yukon University brand video released
WHITEHORSE—Yukon University, soon to be Canada’s first university North of 60, unveiled its new identity today, leading up to the official university transition celebration in May 2020.
Over footage of students in the awe-inspiring Yukon landscape, the video speaks of having a deep relationship with the place you live, feeling your roots, doing things differently, recognizing opportunity, and looking to the future. It ends with the message “together, we thrive”.
“Developing a look and feel that is authentic and reflective of our institutional personality now and into the future, has been a thoughtful journey involving many people,” said Jacqueline Bedard, Executive Director of External and Government Relations at Yukon College.
“Our guiding principle was to have a process where Yukoners felt seen, heard and reflected in the YukonU
brand. Critical to this was connecting and consulting with Yukon communities and YukonU stakeholders, in order to learn from them the role Yukon College plays in the community today, and the role people expect Yukon University will play in the future.”
Following a tender process, the College contracted Stormy Lake Consulting and Will Creative to lead the brand development. Work began in August of 2018 and involved several community consultations, as well as one-on-one interviews. The process wrapped up in June.
The YukonU brand video was produced by Yukon-based Brendan Preston Productions under the direction of Will Creative. It can be viewed on Yukon College social media channels and at yukonuniversity.ca/.
The final significant milestone on the journey to becoming YukonU is development and passing of the Yukon University Act by the Government of Yukon which is expected to occur in the fall session of the Yukon Legislature. Following this, the College will share details on the official launch celebration.
