Which ceremony should you attend?
The first ceremony is for all students who attend any program in the Applied Arts Division.
The second ceremony is for all students who attend any program in the Applied Science and Management Division, School of Academic and Skill Development, Centre for Northern Innovation in Mining or Yukon Native Language Centre.
Not sure what division your program is in? Check the program listing in the Convocation Day Schedule of Events.
Gowning: your gown, cap and stole will be available at the Student Services Centre on the day of the ceremony. Gowning will start at 10am for the 11am ceremony, and at 1pm for the 2pm ceremony. Please arrive on time.
Dress code: we request that all graduates dress to reflect the dignity of Convocation. We encourage students to wear footwear appropriate for standing and walking safely. Very high heels can be hazardous on the stairs of the stage.
Coat check not available: as there will be no secure storage space available, it is recommended that you leave personal items with your family/guest.
Guests are welcome to attend the 2018 Convocation ceremonies at the Yukon Arts Centre and the complementary reception (location and time to be determined). Seating at the Yukon Arts Centre is available on a first come, first serve basis. Doors open 30 minutes prior to each ceremony.
Members of the audience are welcome to take pictures during the ceremonies. You are also welcome to use a photo booth at the Yukon Arts Centre.
Most graduates will receive their official credential on the day of Convocation. If you are unable to attend, your credential can be picked up at the Admissions Office between May 28 and June 15, 2018. Please remember to bring photo ID. After June 15, credentials will be mailed to graduates at the address listed on their Application to Graduate.
Mobility and diversity accommodations
Both Yukon College and the Yukon Arts Centre provide services and accommodations to ensure Convocation is as accessible as possible for all guests and graduates. Yukon College is fully wheelchair accessible, however, the Yukon Arts Centre will require staff assistance for graduates. If you require any mobility or diversity accommodations, please contact Julie Hawkins at least two weeks prior to the ceremony: email@example.com or 456.8606.
Children's activity corner
We will have a Children’s Activity Corner in the Yukon Arts Centre lobby. It will be possible to view the ceremonies on a screen from this location. Please be advised that this area is not supervised and you must remain with your child at all times.
Flowers will be available for sale at the Yukon Arts Centre on Convocation day (cash only please).
Graduates and guests are invited to a complementary reception (location and time to be determined). All are welcome!
