The community is located on Teslin Lake at the mouth of Nisutlin River, an important area for First Nations and home to the First Nation people of the Teslin Tlingit Council. The campus, in partnership with the Teslin Tlingit Council, offers courses and training to meet the needs of the youth and adult population. As an Instructor/Coordinator, you will work with the community to help articulate and implement community training needs.       <description>Salary:  Under Review &#45; Reporting to the President, this position is responsible for providing leadership and vision across Yukon College as a champion for excellence in scholarship and research. The successful applicant will be responsible for promoting collaborative research priorities and themes relevant to Yukon and the North, assisting faculty in the development of new research programs, encouraging investment in research infrastructure and promoting successful major grant and research proposals.
Working with government departments, Canada/Yukon First Nations, and industry, the position&#8217;s mandate includes the development of long term strategic research initiatives and opportunities, sourcing and negotiating various financial resource agreements and partnerships for research initiatives. Advocating and encouraging scientific research of interest/concern to the Yukon and the encouragement of local knowledge&#45;sector capacity in the acquisition, use and interpretation of scientific knowledge are all central to the position&amp;rsquo;s function. Developing and maintaining effective contacts with research agencies and organizations, governments, industries and businesses, are also key position responsibilities. The Vice&#45;President is accountable for developing and implementing strategies and plans to attract researchers and for managing the staff of the Research Division.
Candidates should possess a strong record of accomplishment in a research/academic setting including the preparation of major grant and funding proposals, strong leadership and interpersonal skills, working knowledge of research methodologies and strong strategic planning, project management and implementation skills.
