HRAC 002 - Employee and Labour Relations

This course delivers the legislative and regulatory standards for those working in human resources or employee management positions. It is an introduction to the economic, political, legal and social aspects of union-management and employee relations. We will look at contemporary issues in labour relations, legislations and union organization and structure.

This course is designed for managers, leaders, human resource professionals who manage, recruit, hire, discipline, dismiss, or promote and support employees in an organization. Learn the legislation, regulations, and standards relevant to employment and Human Resource Management in Canada and Yukon, including: Human Rights, Employment Standards, Occupational Health and Safety Acts and their relevance to both unionized and non-unionized workplaces.

Topics include:
• Understand, define and discuss employee and labour relations
• Interpret Canadian legislations, collective agreements and policies
• Discuss and develop strategies that enable leaders to manage employee and stakeholder relationship equitably and in alignment with the organization culture and values
• Discuss the employment and Human Rights
• Develop your negotiations skills and strategies
• Practice difficult employee and labour relations conversations
