- The scholarships are open to all high school students in B.C. and the Yukon regardless of their intended program of study, but they must be planning to attend a post-secondary institution.

Canada Post Aboriginal Education Incentive Award: $

As part of Canada Post’s Progressive Aboriginal Relations Program, the AEIA celebrate the hard work and determination of Aboriginal people who have overcome personal, economic or social adversity in their pursuit of learning.

Doris Steinbraten Scholarship: $

The Yukon Teachers’ Association offers this $750.00 scholarship to one outstanding graduate of a Yukon high school. The recipient should conform to the following criteria:
- The award will be made on the basis of scholarship. A minimum standard will be deemed to be an overall average of 75% with 66% as the lowest acceptable subject mark.
- The award will be made without regard to subject area so long as University entrance standing has been achieved.
- Where more than two candidates are judged of equal worth, financial need may be taken into consideration.
- Preference in awarding the scholarships will be given to a graduate who has completed the major portion of their training in the Yukon educational system and who are about to enter a College of Education or a College of Arts and Science leading to combined studies in a College of Education.

Foundation for the Advancement of Aboriginal Youth

The Foundation for the Advancement of Aboriginal Youth (FAAY) is a national scholarship and bursary program administered by CCAB (Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business) that responds to the critical need to assist Aboriginal high school and post secondary students with bursaries and scholarships — through the generous support of program sponsors. Since its inception, FAAY has awarded over $2.6 million to First Nation, Inuit and Métis students.
Types of Financial Support Available:
Bursaries — the only national Aboriginal program that provides $750 to students pursuing a high school diploma as an incentive to stay in school.
Scholarships — provides a minimum amount of $2,500 and is available to students pursuing a post-secondary education in any discipline.

Garfield Weston Entrance Award: $

In order to be eligible for an Entrance Garfield Weston Award, a student must:
- be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
- have completed or be presently completing secondary school diploma/credentials OR have been out of school (post-secondary studies) for a minimum of three years (students who are presently enrolled in colleges doing their high school equivalency are eligible to apply);
- be entering his or her first-year of full-time college studies in the fall of 2010 leading to a diploma or applied degree (university transfer programs, post-graduate, and pre-university DEC studies are not eligible) in a program recognized as eligible by the college and the Garfield Weston Awards;
- be entering full-time college studies of at least 16 months in duration with a 100% full-time course load; and

Garfield Weston Merit Scholarships for Colleges Upper-Year Awards Specific Application: $

Eligibility criteria:
- The Garfield Weston Merit Scholarships for Colleges (GWMSC) are administered by the Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation. ‘Upper-Year Awards’ are available to current students who have at least one more year remaining in their program of studies.
- Recipients of the GWMSC Upper-Year Awards will be: passionate about his or her field of study, curious, and willing to try new things; caring about his or her family, neighbourhood and community; and truly interested in becoming involved and making a difference in society

Margaret (Peg) Harper Memorial Scholarship: $

This scholarship is provided through fund raising by the Fireweed Lions Clubin the community of Whitehorse in memory of Lion Peg Harper. Lion Peg started her career in nursing and dedicated many years of her life to the volunteer organizations of the Fireweed Lioness and Fireweed Lions Club. During her time, Peg deeply touched the hearts and lives of those around her.
The aim of the scholarship is to assist a deserving 2nd or subsequent year student from the Yukon to continue pursuing his or her education in a recognized nursing program. Should no 2nd or subsequent year student apply for this scholarship, award may be made to a qualifying 1st year student in pursuit of same.

National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation

The National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation has evolved into the largest non-governmental funding body for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis post secondary students across Canada. PSAC Scholarship program: $

The program consists of 14 scholarships for dependant children of PSAC members and three scholarships for PSAC members who are returning to university, college or a recognized institute of higher learning on a full-time basis. PSAC members must be in good standing as of March 31st of the current year.
The scholarships are not restricted to first-year students. No more than one scholarship will be awarded to the same family in a given year and no applicant will be awarded a scholarship more than once.
The scholarships are awarded primarily based on the merit of the 800-word essay according to the topic determined for the given year. The application will be reviewed as a whole; however the PSAC Scholarship Committee will place most emphasis upon the submitted essay.

Eligibility criteria: You are eligible to apply to the RBC Aboriginal Student Awards Program if you are a Status Indian, a Non-status Indian, Inuit or Metis and meet these criteria:
- You are a permanent resident or citizen of Canada

Terry Fox Humanitarian Awards are open to graduating secondary level students and those currently studying towards a first university degree or diploma in a Canadian post-secondary institution. For students in Quebec, you must be entering 2nd year cégep or university.
Award recipients must meet the following criteria:
- Involvement in voluntary humanitarian work.
- Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
- Undergraduates studying towards their first university degree or diploma at a Canadian post-secondary institution in Canada.
- Maintain a satisfactory academic standing and continued involvement in voluntary humanitarian and community work.
- Students are eligible to receive the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award until they have received their first university degree (for a maximum of four years), provided they have maintained a standard of humanitarian work and personal conduct which, in the opinion of the Board of Directors, justifies the award.

Watson Lake Student Assistance Endowment Fund: $

Background: The fund is a joint creation of the Watson Lake Community Campus Committee of Yukon College and the Watson Lake Training Advisory Board. This fund was created to supplement graduates, college level or mature students in the catchment area of Watson Lake, including Lower Post, Upper Liard and Two Mile who require assistance in continuing their education at either Yukon College or a recognized university or college or training centre.

YTA 50th Anniversary Bursary: $

The Yukon Teachers’ Association commemorating its 50th anniversary in 2005 established a bursary [$500] with the intention of supporting one or more Yukon students pursuing a post secondary education opportunity.
The applicants will be assessed using the following criteria:
- The award will be made to promote a formal post secondary training or education activity – trades training, college or university.
- The award will be made without regard to the specific area of study provided completion of the programme will result in the granting of a
- training certificate, trades ticket, diploma or degree.
- Preference will be given to applicants who have completed the major portion of their public school education in Yukon schools.
- Awards may be made without regard to an applicant’s receipt of other financial awards.
- Where two or more applicants appear to qualify, financial need may be taken into consideration.

General Scholarship - four awards of $2,000 each
These scholarships are for post secondary students studying electrical or maintenance engineering, electronic systems engineering, civil engineering, business administration or management studies. Two scholarships are given to first year students, and two to students entering second year or beyond.
Yukon Energy Ed Chambers Memorial Trades Scholarship - two awards of $1,000 each
This is a new scholarship in memory of Ed Chambers. Mr. Chambers served on Yukon Energy’s Board of Directors from February 1991 to May 2004 and was a tremendous asset to this Corporation. This scholarship is for students entering pre-apprenticeship or entry level programs in the areas of electrician, power line technician, electronics technician, heavy duty mechanic, industrial instrument mechanic, industrial mechanics (millwright) or machinist.
Yukon Energy Scholarship – First Nation Component
Yukon Energy also provides scholarships to students from the Nacho Nyak Dun and Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in First Nations. Annual scholarships of up to $1,000 are awarded to deserving members of each of the two First Nations.

Medical Education Bursary

Award amount: $10,000.00/year for up to 4 years of medical school $15,000.00/year for up to 2 years during medical residency, family medicine only Eligibility criteria:
- Proof of Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status maintained throughout the period of the bursary.
- Proof of current or previous residency in the Yukon of at least 3 consecutive years within the last 5 years or of having received the Yukon Grant provided by the Yukon Department of Education.
- Copy of letter of acceptance into an approved Canadian medical education program. This can be conditional pending final acceptance.
- An eligible person who starts medical education in a country other than Canada can become eligible for the bursary when and if they transfer into an approved Canadian medical education program. (For example, could be eligible during family medicine residency if that residency occurs in Canada.)

Nursing Education Bursary
Application Deadline: June 30 of each year
The bursary will be made available to up to four new students per year and the maximum amount available will be $5,000/year for up to four years of nursing school. Applicants will be selected by a bursary committee made up of representatives from the Yukon Registered Nurses Association, Council of Yukon First Nations, Whitehorse General Hospital, Community Nursing and Continuing Care.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants are required to provide the following information in order to be eligible to receive the bursary:
- Proof of Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status maintained throughout the period of the bursary.
