ECD 211: Family/Program/Community
This course is designed to increase the student’s understanding of, and empathy with, the families with whom they will be working. The relationship between the child-development professional and parents, together with the various roles of parents in early childhood programs, is discussed. The value of a friendly, open, co-operative family staff relationship should become self-evident. The child development worker’s role in fostering this, and in serving as an advocate for young children and their families, is explored. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 1st-year ECD.
