This week our very own Renee Charlie, Tutor/Coordinator at our Alice Frost Campus in Old Crow was highlighted on CBC Radio as a local hero. Renee has been working with the College for the past two years and her presence at the campus has been a tremendous boost. Renee is 100% dedicated to ensuring that education is top of mind for all of the young people in Old Crow and being at the campus allows her to promote that even further. We knew that Renee was a treasure and we are very proud that the rest of the Yukon knows it as well. Congratulations Renee!
The past week was an exciting one at the College. On Thursday Justin Trudeau was in Whitehorse and came to the campus to speak to our students. His message was civic responsibility and engagement. This coming week we will have a celebrity chef Lyn Crawford on campus. She will be working with our culinary students who will be preparing appetizers to be served at the Epicurious event happening Thursday evening. This is always a very well attended event and a wonderful opportunity to show off our excellent culinary program.
The College is busy putting the final touches on our new course calendar. Watch for that in February. This past month the six academic Chairs have been working with the webmaster to redesign the program information pages on the web. Watch for those too in February. As more and more of our public face is online, departments are working hard to ensure that the information is clear and navigation through our web pages is simple and straightforward. We’d love any feedback to help us in that task.
Have a great week. Enjoy the warm weather.
