ReSDA is seeking an individual to work as the Coordinator on a short-term basis.  You should be someone who is interested in social science research relating to resource development in the North.

Working with the ReSDA Research Director and the Steering Committee you will be involved with the daily administration of a large northern social science research network. The position involves leading the communication and outreach activities for the network. One of the main activities will be to coordinate the annual workshop. This is a great opportunity to further your academic experience in a real work environment by assisting with and administering the activities of a large research network.

Position details:

  • Coordinate operations of the northern office for the Resources and Sustainable Development in the Arctic (ReSDA) Research Network in cooperation with the network research Director, the ReSDA Management and Steering Committee.  
  • Facilitate the final details for the planning, organization and advertising of the annual ReSDA workshop for 2017 to be held in Whitehorse in October.
  • Support the ReSDA researchers and community partners.
  • Assist with organizing and planning for teleconference meetings with partners and/or network members.
  • Provide current and supporting information relating to the research themes and related areas to help in the communications on research. 
  • Update information for the project research results and other related information for the ReSDA for the web site, Atlas database, Facebook page and Twitter account.
  • Assist with the knowledge sharing activities such as the development of newsletters and plain language reports for ReSDA.
  • Assist with the final reporting requirements for the ReSDA funding by gathering and compiling research project information and other materials


  • Must have completed a University degree in social sciences. 
  • Self-motivated and ability to work effectively independently as well be a supportive team member in a network
  • Proven organizations skills, research and writing skills, attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in social science research will be considered an asset
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications required; experience with databases an asset
